Bigul is an original and family entertainment film : says Ravi Kant

There will only be a few director who can claim originality as Ravi Kant claims for his first directed film ‘Bigul’. Ravi Kant says that not a single frame in the film can be said to be the copy of any other film made in any language. Ravi Kant started his career with ‘Bhartendu Natya Academy’ and staged many shows before directing tv serials like ‘Kitty Party’, ‘Ankhiyo Ke Jharokhe Se’, ‘Kanhi Kisi Roz’ etc. ‘Bigul’ is the first film directed by Ravi Kant.

In a recent interview Ravi Kant claimed that ‘Bigul’ is made on the background of the present day social reality in north India. This is a story of a labour-farmer and presents his pain and sorrows. This film is absolutely original and though its language is Bhojpuri it compares favourably with any other film made in any other language for its subject, presentation, film making, photography, direction, post production etc. It has no vulgarity. Ravi Kant himself has written the story and script and dialogues are written by Manoj Pandey in close collaboration with Ravi Kant.

Ravi Kant further said the film ‘Bigul’ stands apart in film making and no corner has been cut in producing the film. Even a set costing Rs. 10 Lakha was erected for the film. Such a costly set has never been used in any other Bhojpuri film.

Ravi Kant is not happy with the present day films and says majority of the films produced these days have no links with the society as a whole and relates with only a miniscule part of the society. He said that film makers have a social responsibility too and they can’t serve the society by neglecting it in the film. Many producer say that the present what the viewers want, but Ravi Kant says that viewers are forced to see what we produce because there is no option available for them.

Ravi Kant belongs to Aurangabad in Bihar.
